Some number of weeks/months ago, I was told to relocate my MRR to another room — another floor actually. The idea was to give me “more” room, and free up a bed room. Honestly, I don’t know that we need the room I’m in now, but…

As an aside, all of this strikes me as ironic as IG v1 started out in the basement, albeit a different location. When I moved v1 to the upstairs (thereby causing v2), we discussed all the options for a new location and the upstairs sitting room was determined as the best location. 2+ years later (maybe it’s 3 years, but that’s not the point), we’re back to the basement.

Although the new space is larger in terms of square feet, it is configured differently. As such, it’s likely I will end up with far less usable space for the MRR. Since I’m still working on the track plan, I don’t know for sure if I’ll end up with more mainline or less. The upside? I learned a lot from v1 and v2, and v3 will be better in many regard (<- repeat ad nauseum). As all good soldiers do, I formulated a plan and began the process. The first step was to prepare the destination room. In this case, it is actually two rooms. An open space for the MRR itself and a room for the workspace. The new location for the MRR is/was a closet in the basement - a very long closet. The new workspace is my current office. Not much "savings" in space there, as I actually lost 1/2 my office to the new workspace, but at least all my stuff is in one place now. Turning the closet into a fully open area ready for a MRR was not difficult. Take out the closet doors, remove the walls, and repair the walls as necessary. Simple. 🙂 No really, it went pretty smoothly. I created more of a mess than I would of liked, but who doesn't? Some pictures... Future home of IG v3
